Hours: Full time, 32 hours per week, some evenings and weekends
Salary: Up to $22.63 per hour

Position Summary
This position combines being a valued family peer support specialist with advocating for mental health in the community. This position requires an understanding of mental health as a peer and will provide support to many kinds of people affected by mental health, including those with mental health conditions and their family members. We are looking for someone with a passion for collaboration, strong communication skills, and plenty of curiosity and willingness to grow.
Job Duties
NAMI Utah Peer Support (70%)
- Provide peer-based communication with NAMI Utah’s Helpline on resources and mental health support for family members and people with mental health conditions.
- Research, catalog & vet resources in the community.
- Work with the community to create partnerships and awareness of NAMI Utah programs.
- Complete reporting on Helpline communications.
- Promote and support other NAMI Utah peer-based programs as needed.
Advocacy (30%)
- Develop and deliver peer-based presentations.
- Train, track & support volunteers to give peer-based presentations.
Qualifications
- Experience in peer-based support
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in public speaking a plus
- Experience in community partnerships preferred
- Family Peer Support Specialist certification required within 3 months of hire
