NAMI Utah Speakers Bureau

The NAMI Utah Speakers Bureau is a group of volunteers that have experience with mental illness - either personally or as a loving caregiver – and that would like the opportunity to share their story. Volunteers receive ongoing training that helps them to understand and write their story and become more proficient and comfortable in public speaking – all in a safe and caring setting. You bring the story and the experience and we’ll provide the training and then the platform for embracing and sharing your story.

We respond to requests from the community by speaking, participating on panel presentations, sharing our stories for all kinds of groups including area businesses, churches, partner agencies, state and local governments, schools and classrooms, etc.

By empowering our volunteers to share their stories, we advocate for change in the way mental illness is seen and understood. We speak out to end stigmas and misinformation associated with mental illness.

Stories are powerful tools for change. If you are interested in sharing yours, please contact Dan Powell at or visit the NAMI Utah Speakers Bureau website.
